Family Of Dreamworld Victim Forced To Call Triple-0 For Details Of Accident

The family of Roozbeh Araghi, who was killed alongside his partner after the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld malfunctioned, say that they were forced to call triple-0 to find out information about the incident, as police had failed to contact them.

“We resorted to even ringing triple-0 and trying to get through to the police station via that,” Roozbeh’s brother Simon Araghi told the ABC. “We had three of us on hold for well over an hour.”

As of Thursday night, Araghi said he still had not heard from authorities – though he had received a belated call from rexecutives for Ardent Leisure, including embattled CEO Deborah Thomas. “I finally got a call wanting to discuss things and offering their support, but I told them we don’t want to discuss it,” Araghi said.
“I would have preferred the call a lot earlier. They apologised and I think wanted to see if they can work through things with us privately, but to be honest it’s not really on our radar at the moment.”

Queensland Police Commissioner Brian Codd insists that police have been working hard to locate and contact next of kin. “We have been in contact and negotiation and support of those families from the start,” he told the ABC.
