Exclusive Preview: Ruby Jean For RUSSH Issue 50

RUSSH is celebrating a milestone this month with its 50th issue, and under the director of Editor in Chief Jess Blanch, the team have pulled together an amazing issue celebrating all things cinematic. Without giving too much away, within the pages you’ll find inspiration pulled from the history of cinema with Hitchcock, Kubrick, old Hollywood glamour and classic cinema serving as aesthetic cues.

Also prominent on RUSSH’s ode to the moving pictures is an incredible spread starring the new big thing in Australian modeling, Ruby Jean Wilson, who has already experienced a brush with the cinematic after channeling Sixties youthquake actress/icon Edie Sedgwick in Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2013 campaign.

This time around, RUSSH Fashion & Beauty Editor Billie Iveson, has transformed Ruby Jean into an androgynous post-punk hero, aided by the skills of hairstylist Renya Xydis and makeup artist Victoria Baron.  Billie told Pedestrian, “We were inspired by Nick Cave in the Wim Wenders film Wings of Desire as well as ’80s Berlin with its underground bars and nightlife characters.”

Shot by Derek Henderson, this is probably one of our favourite RUSSH stories to date and reaffirms our theory that girls in boys clothing is pretty much the greatest thing ever. We’ve got an exclusive preview for you, thanks to the RUSSH crew.

Look out for the new issue featuring French cover woman Marie Piovesan.
