Everything Fine & Normal In America As Lights Go Out On Statue Of Liberty

America is doomed. 

We’ve suspected it since He got into power, and his recent, disgusting attacks on immigrants and healthcare have only strengthened our fear that the country is going straight to Socialist Hell / Republican Heaven.

Now, we have absolute, unequivocal proof that the US is no longer the land of the free: friends, the State of Liberty has gone dark.

Yep, for apparently no reason other than she bloody well felt like it, Lady Liberty turned her lights later Tuesday night (or Wednesday arvo here in Australia).

Considering the statue’s iconic status as the first thing immigrants see when coming into Ellis Island (“give me your huddled masses, wretched refuse etc etc”), people quite naturally thought this was some very timely, if extremely unsubtle, social commentary re: Trump’s whole “fuck these particular immigrants” policy.

And while the whole thing was down to a simple power outage, according to a National Park Service officer, you best believe Twitter hooked its cynical little claws in and refused to let go.
