Ellen DeGeneres Joins Margot & Kylie In Backing New Aussie Campaign For SSM

Literal human sunbeam Ellen DeGeneres has added her considerable star power to the marriage equality movement in Australia, throwing her support behind the newest – and homegrown – SSM campaign ‘Say I Do Down Under‘.

She created an emoji of the campaign’s symbol (a rainbow-coloured Australia, naturally) and tweeted it out to her 62 million followers.

CUUUUUTE. And yes, it’s an actual emoji you can use, because like her fellow technologically-minded queens Kim Kardashian and Amber Rose, she launched her own emojis.

The campaign, launched by Kylie Minogue‘s fiancé, British actor Joshua Sasse, has been using the power of celebrity to get its message across, most notably with the extremely hot and incredibly dope Margot Robbie rocking one of their t-shirts during her recent SNL monologue.

In fact, Minogue and Sasse announced yesterday that they won’t tie the knot until same-sex couples can get married in Australia.

DeGeneres herself married Aussie-American actress Portia de Rossi in 2008, which is flabbergasting when you realise it’s 2016 and our nation’s archaic and homophobic laws haven’t yet caught up. Ugh.

Even as we seem to be creeping towards a plebiscite literally nobody wants, it’s nice to know that Australian celebs are fed-the-fuck-up with our dithering politicians and taken matters into their own hands.
