The 5 Products That Have Completely Turned Around My Dry, Itchy Winter Skin

Every winter, I struggle through the trials/tribulations of dry skin. Christ, my skin gets SO DRY – think scaly and gross with an added flare-up of eczema if I’m lucky.

I am 100% not alone in this – for many of us, winter is the worst because the constant in/out of heated workplaces and brisk outdoor conditions wreak havoc on our natural skin balance. It can feel like all you do is scratch and flake everywhere (sorry).

I’ve been through a mammoth amount of skincare products to try and fix the issue – from rich face creams to expensive body lotions. Finally, I’ve found the answer(s). These five products have turned my skin around, keeping eczema at bay and dry patches non-existent. Well, pretty much non-existent.

1. Telfast 180mg

Telfast 180mg, 70 tablets, $29.99

Okay – disclaimer here in that you should always consult your doctor about medication. But basically I was taking some other anti-histamines, and my doctor told me for my personal situation to take these – they’re higher dose, and seem to completely clear up my eczema itching. This was a starting point, I needed to mention them because without these, I don’t think my eczema issues would have calmed.

2. Bioderma Atoderm Creme

Bioderma Atoderm Creme, $30.99

Oh my GOD, this all-over cream changed my life. It’s affordable (the tube is big and a little goes a long way) and super gentle on the most irritated of skins. But the best benefit of all is how it moisturises for a full day (or night) without feeling heavy or pore-clogging. I’m obsessed. I use it mainly on my face because while it’s affordable, I’d go through the tube in a fortnight if I put it on my whole body.

3. Bioderma Atoderm Intesive Baume

Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume, $32.99

When my eczema is flaring up or if my skin is particularly itchy/irritated, I switch out #2 for this one – same product, bit of a different formula. This one is designed to calm itching which is a GOD SEND when your skin feels like you wanna peel it off. Again, I stick to using this on my face or any eczema patches.

4. Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Lotion

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion, $12.99

This is a cheaper alternative I use for all-over moisturising every morning and night. It’s super nourishing and really does work for 24 hours, plus the oat complex is SO good for itchy skin.

5. Dermaveen Eczema Ointment

Dermaveen Eczema Ointment, $13.49

So my face can take ANYTHING, honestly. In winter I’ll apply this goopy ointment on top of moisturiser to act as a barrier through the night, preventing moisture loss. Not for everyone, but if you wake up with tight skin every day and know you don’t break out – try it.
