Dita Von Teese Vamps Up LMFF

The diminutive and inimitable neo-burlesque pin-up icon, Dita Von Teese, debuted her Von Follies for Target lingerie collection at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival last night, vamping it up in the usual two piece, black lace, garter and Louboutin combination that probably won’t make it to the buxom racks of Targets nation-wide.

Some twenty-five models, hand selected by the thirty-nine year old for their curvaceous appeal, sported the predominantly black, red and blue collection of lacy lady undergarments, accessorised with whips, gloves, hats, sequinned caplets and veiled masks from her own personal collection. (That means they were used on Marilyn Manson at some point in time!)

Where there’s a runway, there’s contention about body image, and the Von Follie runway was no exception, with The Teese telling the Herald Sun:

“We gave a lot of models the axe for being too skinny – we probably turned away a dozen. It’s important to me [that] we show curvaceous women and fuller-figured girls… Lingerie looks terrific on girls with shape.”

The Daily Mail then takes issue with Teese for employing one model (picture below with Teese – the name just gets more ridiculous the more you write it) for having the slightest hint of a visible ribcage.

Knickers also look terrific when they’re not in a twist.
