Coachella Pickpocket Nabbed After Pinching Over 100 Phones From Punters

Well, you’ve gotta respect the hustle.

Cops at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival have nabbed a bloke who somehow managed to pilfer more than 100 phones during the opening weekend of the festival and indicted him for grand theft and possession of stolen property. Reinaldo De Jesus Henao is the fella’s name, and he’s not looking too chuffed that his grand heist didn’t go to plan.
He obviously wasn’t particularly well-versed in the arcane arts of smartphone theft (Rule #1: turn the phone off, you dingus) because those he robbed were able to locate their iPhones using Find My iPhone and track him across the festival grounds before he was detained by security.
He had over 100 phones in his backpack, some of which have been successfully returned to the owners. Others have been put in lost property, where they can be claimed later. Indio Police remind Coachella attendees to take proper precautions with their stuff, like putting their phones in their front pocket or wrapping them with an elastic band so they don’t easily slip out.
