City Beach Withdraws Prank Pregnancy Test After Copping It From Angry Mum

City Beach has removed a prank pregnancy test from its shelves, after copping it from an angry mum, who saw the product in a store north of Brisbane, and complained to the company in a lengthy Facebook post.
The pregnancy test, by novelty toy maker Bigmouth Inc, always returns a positive result, which is potentially scary for a few reasons; the mum in question, however, felt that it was insensitive to women undergoing IVF treatment.
The unnamed woman complained:
“You do realise young teenage girls shop in your stores right? You do realise that many mothers (including not-yet mothers) have gone through countless & expensive IVF procedures in order to achieve a positive result on a REAL pregnancy stick.”
After complaining to staff in the North Lakes store, who did not remove the product, the woman complained via Facebook.
The pregnancy test has since been pulled, and a marketing manager said:
“City Beach values all customer feedback. In light of the concerns raised on Facebook, we have decided to remove the ‘Prank Pregnancy Test’ from all of our stores effective immediately. It was never our intention to cause any offense and we apologise unreservedly for any distress the product may have generated for any of our customers.”
