Chanel’s Latest Runway Set Was A Casino Complete With Gambling Celebs

Chanel is well known for having majestic, ridiculous, ‘I don’t even want to know how much this cost‘ kind of runway shows.

From the lavish forest of giant mechanical blooming flowers, to the classical street housing a feminist march of models, to the exorbitant supermarket filled with Chanel-branded groceries – it gets more extravagant every single show.
The 2015 Couture show, held last night, was absolutely no different. While Greece’s economy is crumbling to the point that they may leave Europe, Creative Director and all-around crazy person Karl Lagerfeld decided that it was appropriate to literally build a Chanel casino in the Grand Palais in Paris.
Karl also decided to have celebrities gambling at craps tables and at working pokie machines during the runway show. While models showed off the latest Chanel collection by walking around the tables, celeb muses such as Kristen Stewart, Lily-Rose Depp, Rita Ora, Julianne Moore and Lara Stone were all having a friendly game of craps, wearing Chanel evening wear.

The clothes were the last thing on people’s minds while watching the show, but the couture collection screamed James Bond in Casino Royale, with feminine flapper dress silhouettes and jewel tones echoing the 1920s. However, 3D printed tweed to bring the collection into a more modern time, with oversized jackets and shoulders.

Have we reached the point yet where the shows overshadow the clothes? Possibly. Chill, Karl.
