Every year global search platform, Lyst trawls through their stats to deliver some telling insights into the world of fashion. Now, with this year drawing to a speedy close, they’ve just released their ‘2018 Year In Fashion Report’ and boy, there are some pearls of wisdom inside.

From the top trends (like nineties nostalgia and dad sneakers) to the most-wanted fashion pieces, this retrospective report offers a holistic round up of the last 12 months. Our favourite part of the report? The top 10 celebrity fashion influencers.

There are some familiar faces in the mix, like Kim Kardashian and Blake Lively, but there are also some wild cards we would’ve never guessed, like Serena Williams and Cardi B.

Perhaps most interesting tidbit of all is that the youngest celebrity to make the list also took out the top spot.

Here’s the list in full:

Kylie Jenner

We already know Ky-Lizzle’s been tearing up the beauty scene with her eponymous label Kylie Cosmetics, but it turns out the 21-year-old’s also been making serious waves in the fashion world, beating out her older sister Kim to be crowned the Biggest Celebrity Fashion Influencer.

Kim Kardashian

It’s not a total shock that Kim’s made it so high up the list given her bold af wardrobe choices and marriage to muso-cum-fashion-designer Kanye West, but hey.

Meghan Markle

The Meghan Effect is stronger than ever, with the Duchess of Sussex possessing some serious retail power. Between her wedding, royal tour of Australia and pregnancy announcement, this year Meghan garnered some serious cut-through.

Cardi B

Famous for her Louboutin pumps, Cardi B’s foray into fashion continues to go from strength to strength. Not only did she enjoy pride position at New York Fashion Week, next to Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, but her outfits and collaborations also deliver some next-level search volume.

Beyoncé

Kween Bey’s music tours and videos are a fashion force to be reckoned with. More specifically, her ‘Apeshit’ clip and Coachella show both prompted major online trend spikes for brands like Balmain.

Serena Williams

This year, Serena’s on-court outfits triggered online controversy after the French Open banned her life-saving compression catsuit. Since then, she made her return at the US Open wearing an ebony-hued Off-White x Nike US Open tutu dress, sending search traffic sky-high for black tennis outfits around the world.

Chiara Ferragni

Italian fashion blogger, Chiara Ferragni (who started her career as The Blonde Salad), comes in at number seven. Chiara’s wedding to rapper Fedez in September was a truly EPIC affair, with the big day deemed more influential than the Royal Wedding in terms of social media buzz – wowzers.

Blake Lively

Red carpet princess Blake Lively, and her A Simple Favor press tour, made a very convincing case suiting as the new formal attire du jour, a trend reflected in celebs and fans alike trading in their dresses for tailored three piece sets.

Rihanna

Rihanna took out the top spot in last year’s report, but has now made her way down to number nine, despite the glorious reception of her Savage x Fenty lingerie empire. We still love ya RiRi,

Ariana Grande

Last but not least is Ariana Grande. While her digital influence has driven searches for brands like Reebok, Burberry and Vera Wang, there’s one piece she’s made people start frothing en masses: oversized hoodies, with searches up 130%.
