Brawls, Protests, Injuries Ensue In America’s Black Friday Shopping Mayhem

America’s Thanksgiving dessert, the biggest shopping day of the year in the States known as Black Friday and probably coined by the same jerks who made Valentine’s Day a thing and forced humans to spend money on shit they don’t need, went down overnight, an intense and notoriously dangerous shopping holiday that far outshines Australia’s infamous and notoriously disappointing  Boxing Day sales- unless that 70% off Christmas chocolate hasn’t already sold out.

This year, aside from protests staged by retail employees, perturbed by low wages and the fact Black Friday’s opening times have now spilled into late Thursday, the first day of Christmas Shopping kicked off to a particularly auspicious start, with women fighting in a mall and allegedly pulling out a stun gun (video here), because nothing screams Holiday Cheer like violently abusing your fellow patrons. :/

However, this year’s sales phenomenon may seem comparatively mild in comparison to an incident last year, which saw two people get shot in a car park, in a dispute over a parking space. In saying that, a website has conveniently popped up courtesy of The Internet, showcasing a bold counter of Black Friday related deaths and injuries since 2006. Notably, this year, according to Black Friday Death Count, a Virginia man was stabbed in Walmart, a woman was trampled at a Walmart, a Walmart employee was injured, a man was stabbed at a mall and most tragically, a teen on their drive home from Black Friday shopping allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and fatally crashed while also causing injuries to 4 other passengers.

Consumers in the midst of moshpit heavy, percentage-off chaos, this is why you can’t have nice things.
