The Best Natural-Looking Bronzers To Look Sunkissed Even When It’s A Brisk 13C

It might be the start of winter and a brisk 13C thanks to an insanely chilly cold front, but that doesn’t mean I’m not swiping on bronzer every morning trying to remember what summer felt like. In fact, the best bronzers will work no matter what time of the year it is – because they look like a subtle, natural glow as opposed to a muddy swipe of makeup.

We tried a whole bunch of bronzers to determine which ones consistently look great and most importantly, are hard to fuck up on application. Here’s our top picks for best bronzers.

1. NARS Bronzer in Laguna

Nars Bronzer in Laguna, $60

The OGGGGG and arguably the best – this is definitely my favourite bronzer from a no-fuss, consistently-good perspective. The colour suits a range of skin tones from pale-medium to medium-dark, with darker skin tones likely preferring the Casino shade. The formula is matte but applies smooth, so it doesn’t ever look muddy.

2. HUDA Beauty Tantour Contour & Bronzer Cream

HUDA Beauty Tantour Contour & Bronzer Cream, $42

While bronzing creams can be tricky to apply, this one blends well thanks to it’s powder-transforming qualities. But what’s really great is it’s range of shades for darker skin tones – the deeper hues mean a more natural finish.

3. Benefit HOOLA

Benefit HOOLA, $52

This is my other fave – the finely-milled powder is a dream to apply, and again the colour is subtle enough to look natural but deep enough to actually appear on your face. The best news is they recently launched Caramel and Toasted shades for darker skin tones – Hoola is great for light-light/medium.

4. Becca Sunlit Bronzer

BECCA Sunlit Bronzer, $57

If you prefer your bronzer to double as a highlighter, this is the one for you. Much more shimmery than the others I’ve mentioned above, but equally blendable and natural-looking.

5. Maybelline New York City Bronzer

Maybelline New York City Bronzer, $16.95

A great super-affordable option, City Bronzer is matte and works really well when you’re not as tanned as you might be in summer – there’s four shades and they work best for pale to medium skin tones.

6. Nude By Nature Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer

Nude By Nature Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer, $39.95

It looks dark, but this bronzer works well across a wide range of skin tones – it’s a great one for fans of natural makeup, I love Nude By Nature because they’re committed to the mineral makeup life but the products also blend easily and look great on.

7. Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops

Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Serum, $55

Achieving a 4.7/5 rating on Mecca with over 150 reviews is no small feat, and this serum – which gives your skin a gentle sunkissed glow while also protecting it from harmful pollutants – has managed it. The rave reviews are accurate, it’s easy to use and a great way to warm up your skin (as well as give it some TLC).

8. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer, $46

A long-time fave of makeup artists and beauty bloggers, the Too Faced bronzer collection has matte and shimmer options – but the matte bronzer is a crowd-pleaser because of it’s natural finish and smooth consistency.
