Benja Harney’s Hermes Christmas Window

Benja Harney does miraculous things with paper. A self-described Paper Engineer, Harney’s intricate creations are more befitting of the term Paper Magician. What you or I see as a disposable writing surface, Harney sees as building blocks of fantasy and childhood whimsy.

His latest creation, a Christmas window display for luxury giant Hermes, follows his jaw dropping work for Incu and Harpers Bazaar with a series of wings constructed entirely our of paper. These images don’t really do Harney’s laborious wings justice but you can see them in the flesh at the Hermes Store on the corner of Market and Elizabeth Street, Sydney. We’re thinking Icarus might have escaped had Harney’s wings found his back.
