The design duo behind Australian label Bassike have always been renowned for producing timeless wardrobe staples and their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection doesn’t disappoint.
Their young brand, established in 2006, has a refreshing take on modern sportswear combining all the elements of relaxed Australian style and giving it a hint of subtle luxury. No, that doesn’t mean pairing thongs with a tuxedo, think athletic-inspired shapes such as bodysuits, low-slung pants and hooded sweats blended with streamlined tailoring and leather detailing.
The campaign, shot by Beau Grealy and modeled by recent Balenciaga face Sophie “Hirschy” Hirschfelder and Mason Mulholland, delivers a strong aesthetic that utilises the refined colour palette of black, white and neutrals with hints of red to make it pop. The standout piece is no doubt the monochromatic checkerboard leather dress, which is a statement in all its regal simplicity.
Bassike AW13 is in store January to March 2013.
