Bambi Northwood-Blyth Does Disco

The style arc that straddled the late 1970s and early Eighties was a triumph of fabulous tailoring, jersey drapery and the man trouser. Think Mary Tyler Moore dressed in cream blouses and tweed in Ordinary People or Goldie Hawn in all the down-time wardrobe in Private Benjamin.

For the cover story in the latest issue of Harper’s BAZAAR Spain, stylist Juan Cebrian has curated a gorgeous disco era-inspired wardrobe to be showcased on Australian model Bambi Northwood-Blyth – looking as good as I’ve seen her. The spread was shot by photographer Nico, whose retouching job looks like something straight out of a 1981 Playboy magazine (for better or for worse).

While it’s been great basking in the loose and lazy Nineties style-revival, the return of Disco-chic, big hair and drag makeup is surely due for a comeback?
