
Three people have sustained serious injuries in northern Bavaria after a man attacked around 20 passengers on a train with an axe, according to local police.
The train was travelling between the town of Treuchtlingen and the city of Würzburg when the man attacked, wielding a kniw and an axe. He attempted to flee the train when it stopped and was shot by police.

As many as 14 people are being treated for shock after the attack.
According to Bavarian interior minister Joachim Herrmann, the attacker was a 17-year-old Afghan citizen.
The train line has been closed as police investigate. According to a spokesperson, there is currently no known motive for the attack.
