Our very own Jessica Kahawaty has taken third place at the annual Miss World pageant after China’s Yu Wenxia took the crown in front of her home crowd in Ordos (where now?). This is a fantastic outcome considering Kahawaty was required to don her widely-panned ‘national costume’ for some rigorous walking and posing and thinking.
The costume consisted of a flesh-coloured body stocking, some diamontes and some artfully smeared zinc that literally serves to underline just what an incredible achievement this is. I can’t wait to see Kahawaty’s media/red carpet career blossom like rose in the Gobi desert because, uh, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps, and, uh, I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as. You know what I mean. Don’t forget, you can enter a competition to end the tyranny of terrible national costumes once and for all and prevent future crimes against organza.
Take it away, Jess!
