Diet Prada Accuses Ariana Grande Of Ripping Off A Jean Paul Gaultier Campaign

Die-hard fashionistas who also happen to be Arianators (Ariana Grande stans) may have noticed something very familiar in the singer’s latest music video for ‘God Is A Woman’.

The clip, which was released two days ago, conveys the singer as a god, sitting on top of the world, preaching her sermon to the masses and being held up by humans.

As with literally anything in popular culture, Grande’s vid has been called out for allegedly stealing scenes from French haute couture and prêt-à-porter fashion designer, Jean Paul Gaultier.

The allegations come from the judge, jury and executioner of the fashion copycat world, an Instagram account called Diet Prada ™.

The highly respected page which boasts 612k+ followers just dropped a comparison pic that noted similarities between one of the high end designer’s ’90s campaigns and a scene from Ari’s vid.

“Is God a woman? More importantly, could she be a Jean Paul Gaultier woman? @arianagrande is definitely making a strong case for it…or at least @dave_meyers is a fan of this 90s ad campaign lol,” the caption reads.

Reactions from the page’s followers were mixed, with some agreeing with their theory that Grande took inspo from the label and others blasting the page for tearing their queen down.

“The copies are never as good as the original,” wrote one user with another commenting, “Such a stunt they have pulled off” and a third adding, “Sorry @arianagrande you’re a font, @evesalvail is an icon.”

Meanwhile, other commenters called Ari’s work an “homage” to the original shoot, rather than a knock off.

“I’m pretty sure diet Prada is aware that this is an homage and didn’t mean for this post to be shady lol,” wrote a follower in defence of Ari.

One fan absolutely went to town on the page, accusing them of bullying the singer.

“You are a bunch of self-righteous, self aggrandizing asshats who are bullying creative people shamefully. Wouldn’t care except the climate we live in is so fraught & with this kind of ignorant bullying of people who – like all artists from time immemorial – make mistakes & copy the work of people they admire you are contributing to a bummer era of people being afraid to take chances lest they get publicly shamed by no nothings like « @diet_prada” why don’t you pull yourselves together & take s walk outside instead of sniping at people who are actually making shit. & lest you get self righteous & think you are “protecting” obscure artists from being ripped off, you’re not. Look in the mirror. You suck.”

Neither the fashion icon nor the accused singer have commented on the shade as of yet.
