Christ: Archie Rose Sold Out Of Its Zesty Gin-Infused Hand Sanitiser In Two Hours

Sydney-based booze slingers Archie Rose Distilling have shifted some of its booze production into making and selling hand sanitiser with leftover botanicals from its gin. If there’s one thing we can thank grog for, it’s being an excellent way to keep things clean in the face of a pandemic, right?

Bottles of the zesty gin hand sanitiser went up for pre-sale on the distillery’s website at about 3pm and are now very much sold out while they wait for more bottles and caps to arrive for packing. Considering they’re $20 a pop for a 500ml bottle, I’m not surprised.

Truly grouse value for money there, and also a way to support independent booze makers. A win-win, if you ask me.

The gin distillery’s first-ever hand sanitiser is a delightful mix of grapefruit, cassia, cardamom and thyme along with a healthy glug of 65% ABV, making it up to code with World Health Organisation guidelines for hand sani that’ll actually work in cleansing your hands.

Plus you’ll smell like a whole kettle of gin so that’s a plus.

The new production line is also actively helping Sydney folks who have found themselves out of work amid the shut down of non-essential businesses.

“We will continue to produce sanitiser for as long as we can, or as long as is required,” Archie Rose founder, Will Edwards, said.

“This will also support the redeployment of as many of our full time bar staff as possible to assist in filling, packaging and shipping the product.”

Cop yourself a bottle (or six, that’s the maximum) over on the Archie Rose website when it’s back up for sale – which will hopefully happen soon.
