American Apparel Calls For ‘Plus-Size’ Models, Does It Wrong

Finally, American Apparel has introduced plus-sizes in its range. Well, it’s introduced one ‘plus-size’, XL, which is a 12/14 (the size of the average Australian woman), in only a handful of styles. Progress! No.

Of course, American Apparel now needs some models to advertise this momentous step forwards in fuck all, and have launched a campaign to find some ‘booty-ful’ models. Cue The Next BIG Thing, also known as One Of The Worst Moments In The History Of Copywriting:

Calling curvy ladies everywhere! Our best-selling Disco Pant (and around 10 other sexy styles) are now available in size XL, for those of us who need a little extra wiggle room where it counts. We’re looking for fresh faces (and curvaceous bods) to fill these babies out. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be the next XLent model, send us photos of you and your junk to back it up.

Readers are asked to rate those submitting images of themselves on a sliding scale from 0-5. Every image is up on the site, with their current rating publicly viewable. How awesome it must be for the whole internet to see people think you’re a 1.62.

You are asked to vote thusly:

For all you fans of full-size fannies, it’s your turn to chime in and let us know who you think should be our Next BIG Thing. [Changed to “next XL model.”]

Why not just go the whole hog (LOL) and use the word ‘badonkadonk’?
