Alarming Report Reveals 500 Blokes Have Drowned After Drinking In 10 Years

A new campaign has been launched to make blokes rethink their drinking in and around the water, coinciding with a report which says a quarter of all male drowning victims in the past decade were found to have alcohol in their system.

The report, which is aligned with the Royal Life Saving Society’s (RLSS) new Don’t Let Your Mates Drink And Down movement, reveals drinking is linked to the drowning deaths of 500 Aussie men in the past ten years.
A full 66% of those drowning victims were found to have a BAC of 0.05 or higher. Furthermore, the report reveals that men account for an astonishing 80% of all drowning deaths.
In a statement, RLSS CEO Justin Scarr says the Australian “culture of drinking while swimming, boating or fishing means men are at greater risk of drowning.”
The campaign intends to get men to, essentially, look our for their mates around beaches, rivers, pools, lakes, and anywhere else where alcohol and deep water converge.
With the warmth of summer fading nationwide, it’s probably a good idea to internalise all of this info before it warms up once again.
