Adult Lego Fans Are Ropeable Over Being Denied Entry To Melbs’ Play Centre

Lego is, indisputably, the greatest toy ever created. Those multi-coloured bricks facilitate creativity, ingenuity, and a heightened pain tolerance due their constant and pointy presence underfoot. It’s for these reasons and more that Lego is adored by both young and old – but, oh boy, do the old have something to say about Melbourne’s brand new Legoland Discovery Centre.

Adult fans of Lego (AFOL) are salty that the new Chadstone attraction doesn’t admit grown-ups without child supervision, and some are claiming it borders on genuine discrimination.

Taking to the Centre’s Facebook page to have their say, several miffed brick fanatics have left 1-star reviews before even stepping into Australia’s first dedicated Lego-palooza.
One reviewer wrote “when you look on a box of Lego it says ages from 4 too 99 or dose [sic] the shop have different rules.”

Another goes further, saying “I hope you’ve done your homework on this one because I will be making a complaint to VCAT if you knock me back on the grounds of age and I will encourage others to do so as well.”

Others claim to have bought $77 season passes without realising it’s a play centre specifically catering to children.

The Centre responded to a negative Facebook review by saying “there is only age restricions [sic] on who can visit the attration [sic] as we are an indoor playground for children.” Speaking to The Age, a spokesperson added the facilities are “not suitable or designed for adults.”

However, the Centre’s website also notes that tickets for a once-monthly adults night will be on offer soon.
One fully-grown human posted a seemingly contrarian message, saying “as a member of the AFOL community, I apologise whole-heartedly for their lack of understanding of this policy and indeed the intentions of the centre.

“Please be reassured we are not all like this. Most of us ‘get it’.”
We sincerely hope everything will be awesome for concerned adult Lego fans when those evenings roll around.
