Adidas Is Releasing A Line Of ‘Waterboy’ Gear To Mark Its 20th Anniversary

It’s been 20 god damned years since the Mud Dogs won the Bourbon Bowl thanks to plucky young former-waterboy-cum-prodigal-linebacker Bobby Boucher, and to commemorate the anniversary of the true story of The Waterboy, Adidas is finally giving the mythical South Central Louisiana State University the throwback gear it richly deserves.

Adidas unveiled the 20th anniversary Waterboy gear earlier this morning; a line of clothing that includes movie-accurate caps, training jackets, football jerseys, and yes, water bottles.

The football jerseys even include the custom Bourbon Bowl logos, and are emblazoned with Adam Sandler‘s Boucher name and number, in a nice little touch.

If you’re feeling particularly keen, the collection even features a replica Mud Dogs helmet – a collaboration with American Football helmet manufacturer Riddell – that features the SCLSU insignia on top of the fictional school’s tradition Mud Dogs logo.

The Waterboy line is set to get a limited release at a special event at the Sneaker Politics consortium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on October 18th. Those of you not fortunate enough to be able to drop everything right now and immediately travel halfway around the world to the goddamned Bayou can get your hands on it via Adidas’ online outlets from October 19th.

Better still, the collection is being presented to Baton Rouge school University Lab High, whose football team will temporarily take on the Mud Dogs moniker for one very real foosball game on the 19th.

The lack of opposing Iowa throwbacks in this collection, however, is a different discussion for a different day.
