Adelaide Cop Hit With Crossbow Bolt During Siege Like It’s Goddamn 1460

When you think of sieges involving medieval weaponry, your mind is probably drawn to the castles and battlements of yore, not an Adelaide warehouse. Regardless, a police officer was injured overnight by being hit in the leg by an actual crossbow bolt. Truly.

Officers reported to a disturbance in the suburb of Hendon, when they encountered the crossbow-wielding man. He opened fire on the police, with a bolt also piercing a cop car’s tire. Just take a moment to imagine what that would’ve been like for the officers on deck.

The suspected shooter then locked himself inside the warehouse for several hours before tactical police worked their way inside and arrested the 47-year-old. He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and detained under the Mental Health Act.
The officer was treated for his injuries and was subsequently discharged from hospital. No word on whether chainmail will be added to official police uniforms.
