You Beaut Aussie Legend Daniel Ricciardo Posts Maiden Forumla 1 Victory

Professional leadfoot and all-around top bloke Daniel Ricciardo has cemented his arrival as a genuine Formula 1 championship threat of the next decade by posting his maiden victory at the Canadian Grand Prix overnight in Montreal. Ricciardo survived a wild race that saw both championship frontrunners, and Mercedes team mates, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton hit with power issues, to claim his first victory in an F1 car, piloting his Red Bull Racing rig home ahead of a limping Rosberg in second, and Red Bull team mate – and noted thorn in every Australian racing fan’s side – Sebastian Vettel in third.

The win now means that Ricciardo has beaten team mate/rival/asshole Vettel in the past five consecutive races, a sentence that surely Mark Webber will read, smile at, and gain just the barest beginnings of a satisfied stiffy from. Ricciardo’s win moves him to third overall in the Driver’s Championship, well behind both Hamilton in second, and Rosberg in first.
Prior to the race, Ricciardo took to Twitter to show off his helmet for the race, which – in tribute to the Canadian setting – he had adorned with lyrics and a logo from Canadian post-hardcore act Alexisonfire. Ricciardo has previously repped home grown acts such as Parkway Drive and The Smith Street Band, further cementing his status as a bloody top bloke.
Following his win, he posted this photo to Twitter as well, which is sure to warm the hearts of all Australians who are solidly in his corner, as well as all of those who still seethe over the Vettel/Webber incident from the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix.
