WATCH: Sonny Bill Williams Gives Rugby World Cup Medal Away To Young Fan

Overnight, the All Blacks clinched a victory over the Wallabies in the Rugby World Cup, but one of the most memorable moments came after the game wrapped up, when Sonny Bill Williams gave his winners medal away to a young fan.

Williams – who remains a controversial figure in Australia after walking out on his Bulldogs contract in 2008 – played a significant role in New Zealand‘s 34-17 victory overnight.
After the match, a young All Blacks supporter called Charlie Lines rushed onto the field looking for an autograph; after security moved in on the kid (who at five-foot-nothing, is clearly a major threat), Williams intervened.
He took Lines under his wing, literally, then proceeded to melt hearts the world over by giving the boy his medal. Williams later said:
“Just before he came to give me a hug he got smoked by one of the security guards and I felt pretty sorry for him you know. If that was a younger brother or cousin I would have given the security guard a hiding you know. But I just picked the kid up and took him back to his old lady and tried to make the night more memorable for him. Better (for the medal) to be hanging around his neck than mine.”

You will not believe what happens at the end of this clip!!!Thanks to our Brazilian friends at ALMA RUGBY for this amazing footageSonny Bill Williams All Blacks #LiamMessam Chiefs Rugby
