WATCH: Cheeky Streakers Halt Play During Big Bash Match At The SCG

Overnight, as the Sydney Sixers were busy taking a thrashing from Big Bash League rivals Sydney Thunder, a pair of streakers decided to liven things up, interrupting play as they were chased around the field in the buff.
The two unnamed mates ran off in opposite directions as the crowd laughed and cheered them on. One made it as far as the pitch, where he snatched a stump, while the other made it to the other end of the ground.
Both were eventually tackled by security guards, and were issued with court attendance notices for entering closed grounds. It is also expected that the two will face $5500 fines, the standard amount for streakers.

Sixers captain Moises Henreiquies later joked that the streakers were attempting to entertain the almost 40,000-strong crowd, following his own team’s lacklustre performance. He told the Sunday Telegraph:

“Two guys who looked like they were off their face came running on to the field, probably trying to make something exciting happen in this game because unfortunately we couldn’t put on a good enough show. They tried to take things into their own hands.”

“They needed a few security guards to beat them. It’s not ideal when the game is interrupted like that. There are plenty of families and kids in the crowd, and you don’t want to see those interruptions.”
When play resumed, it was an easy victory for the Thunder, who won by eight wickets, with commentator Mark Waugh praising the team’s “scrappy performance” and great bowling, singling out player of the match Fawad Ahmed.
