Wallaby David Pocock Accused Of Stomping Rival’s Head In World Cup

Wallabies star David Pocock has been accused of deliberately stomping on All Blacks captain Richie McCaw‘s head during Australia and New Zealand’s tense Rugby World Cup showdown over the weekend.
Footage from the 25th minute of the game appears to show Pocock kicking McCaw while he is on the ground; McCaw holds on to Pocock’s leg, and then when he gets it free, he appears to accidentally or deliberately stomp on his rival’s face.
Soon after, McCaw can be seen sitting up and apparently checking himself for injuries, or to see if the contact drew blood. Referee Nigel Owens, whose attention was on a nearby ruck, did not see the incident, not did the touch judges.
The All Blacks won the match 34-17 to take home their second consecutive Rugby World Cup trophy.
Fans have sprung to Pocock’s defence, saying that the footage in question shows him accidentally making contact with McCaw’s head in the heat of the game. Pocock himself has not yet commented, other than to congratulate his rivals on Twitter.

It is not yet clear whether he will be cited or investigated.
