Footage of a young woman staring at UFC fighters as they pop their shirts off for an official weigh-in has gone viral as balls, sparking a fresh debate about sexism in sport.
The footage was taken at the UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas in December, but has only recently been shared. The identity of the polo shirt-wearing woman is unknown, but presumably someone has forwarded her the video.
Many have criticised her for “objectifying” the fighters while in her official capacity, with one YouTube commenter making the inevitable observation “if it was a man, you’d have [some] feminist calling for his head.”
Others have defended the young woman, saying “good for her” and “when you have a job you enjoy, every day’s a holiday. This lady’s living the dream.”
Australia, as you may have noticed if you haven’t been camped out under a rock, is currently in the midst of its own furious sexism in sport debate thanks to the increasingly poor decisions of Chris Gayle.
