The SCG is Lined With Bats in Tribute to Phil Hughes

A funeral service is being held today for cricket player Phil Hughes in his home town of Macksville, but all around the country, mourners have gathered to watch the service at cricket grounds and other public venues
There are screens set up from the WACA in Perth to Federation Square in Melbourne, but at Sydney’s SCG, where Hughes was tragically felled last week, there is a special tribute.
In honour of the player, who would have turned 26 this week, there are bats lined up across the length of the playing field.
Many also lined up at the SCG to sign a condolence book in honour of Hughes, a scene that has been repeated across the country.

Australia’s cricket elite have gathered in Macksville alongside Hughes’ friends and family to farewell him. We’ll bring you coverage of this as it develops.
