Can you smell what HBO is cooking?
Sensing a glaring deficiency in content dealing directly with the life and times of famous penises, the network has ordered a half hour dramedy pilot starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Do You Even Lift Bro? an untitled new series about jockstraps and bromance executive produced by Johnson himself as well as his Pain & Gain co-star Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson, the creative team behind Entourage.
The pilot – directed by Peter Borg and written by Levinson – will focus on yet another group of steroid users prone to buying mansions and sleeping with people who aren’t their wives, “athletes – some retired, some still active – living in Miami”. Lebron cameo? Book it.
While the cancellation of Entourage’s decidedly hipper younger brother How To Make It In America suggests a growing disdain for TV shows about tight-knit groups of dude bros partying, we can’t help but feel that the exploits of professional athletes will be much more appealing to the viewing public than twenty-something year old hipsters trying to get their shitty selvedge denim line off the ground. We’re actually kind of excited.
