ICYMI, Sonny Bill Williams melted hearts across the globe after the All Blacks‘ victory over our Wallabies on Sunday, giving his World Cup winners’ medal away to a kid who ran onto the field during the All Blacks’ victory lap and got taken out by a security guard:

After the incident, Sonny Bill said:
“I was walking around doing a lap of honour with the boys and a young fella came running out and he got smoked by the security guard, like full on tackled him. I felt sorry for the little fellas. He would have been about eight or seven, I felt kind of sorry for him.”
“Hopefully [the medal] made it a night to remember for him. It’s better than he has it rather than having it hang up at home.”
Thanks to Sonny Bill being an absolute champ, and because “every winner (should) go home with a medal“, he was later presented with a replacement winners’ medal at the World Rugby Awards, and received a standing ovation for his troubles.
