Serena Williams Takes Rightful Place In Throne, Wins Australian Open For 6th Time

Does Serena Williams ever stop? Queen of the Australian Open/The Entire World, Serena Williams has beaten Maria Sharapova 6-3, 7-6 in Melbourne tonight.

Williams and Sharapova on-court rivalry has been long, arduous and largely one-sided: their meeting tonight was their 19th, with Williams having claimed the previous 15 matches. Add tonight’s win to the basket, you thing of royalty, you.

“I just went on the courts with a ball and a racket and a hope. You never know what can happen. I’m so honoured to be here tonight and to hold this 19th trophy,” Williams said at the end of the match.

“It’s really an honour playing against her, I haven’t beaten her in a really long time, but I really love playing against her. So congratulations on an incredible achievement,” Sharapova said in a post-game interview. Sharapova, it needs to be said, is also an absolute on-court star. Impressive grunts and all.

Serena Williams has now won 19 grand slam titles and 6 Australian opens. What have YOU done with your life?

Look upon this ubridled glee, and despair:
