Ronda Rousey To Headline UFC 193 In Melbourne This Year

WELL, SHIT.

Following their announcement earlier this month, officially pinning Melbourne, Victoria as its next target, the UFC have dropped an almighty headline this afternoon, featuring none other than the ultimate antithesis to a “Do Nothing Bitch“.

Things that are officially not a drill: RONDA ROUSEY being in our midst, come November.

Rousey’s fight with Holly Holm was originally scheduled to take place in Las Vegas in January. However, after Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler recently suffered an injury, his scheduled fight with Carlos Condit was postponed, freeing up the Octagon for Rousey vs. Holm on November 15.

UFC President Dana White said the swelling interest in UFC in Australia has bumped the nation’s significance in the market.

“Obviously Ronda Rousey was huge for us down in Brazil, she was well received there, it was just a phenomenal event. It did very well on pay-per-view here in the United States. She’s obviously a huge superstar for us and Australia’s an important market for us so we’re going to bring her out there.”

Taking place at Etihad Stadium, Dana White claimed the venue’s capacity is set to break attendance records for Mixed Martial Arts. According to Fox Sports, the current attendance record for UFC was made in 2011, where an audience at the Rogers Centre in Toronto was made up of just over 55,000 people.

Etihad Stadium has a capacity of 56,000+, and may be able to widen audience numbers if additional seating is placed on the field.

All for a KO that could, if Rousey stays on top of her game, take mere seconds.

Tickets are on sale from Monday, September 21.
