Roger Federer Is History’s Winning-est Tennis Player

Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer may not be at the top of his game right now, but that hasn’t stopped the player, whose natural game is near-balletic in its effortlessness, from continuing to break records. Federer set a new benchmark as the winner of more Grand Slam matches than any other player after his second round victory at the French Open on Wednesday.

Federer’s match against Romanian player Adrian Unger was his 234th Grand Slam victory, allowing him to overtake the record formerly held by American Jimmy Connors which probably calls for another gifted prize cow from his Swiss countrymen.

The only Men’s Singles contender from Australia to remain in competition at Roland Garros is 19-year-old Bernard Tomic (seeded #25) who plays his second round match tonight (7pm AEST) against Colombian player Santiago Giraldo (#50 seed).

In the Women’s Singles draw, two Australians Samantha Stosur and Jarmila Gajdosova remain in contention. Bonne chance, mademoiselles.
