Rabbitohs Star Issac Luke Apologises For Homophobic Instagram Slur

In the latest edition of ‘NRL Players Say The Darndest Homophobic Things’, South Sydney Rabbitohs star Issac Luke has issued an apology to fans after a slur he made on Instagram.
Per reports in Fairfax, Luke made a post to Instagram on Friday night, in an attempt to find a South Sydney fan who was injured in a fight after the Rabbitohs’ controversial win over Canterbury
Luke was offering to give his game day jersey to the injured supporter, but in response to some negative comments, he wrote:
“get off my page you lil poofters. This is about a kid your fans knocked out. Well now two kids Yous dropped. We train at Redfern come down and see if you fellas are still carrying on #rulesarerules even though it was a hard penalty to take. I bet yous would’ve done the same had we done it to one of your players. Or we would’ve have even had u gooses commenting had it happened earlier on in the game. Now get off my page.”
Luke quickly deleted the post, but the NRL caught wind, and issued a statement, effectively saying that if players could go ahead and not incite homophobia every other goddamn day, that would be treat.
“Rugby League is a game for everyone regardless of race, colour, religion, ability or sexuality,” a representative said.

“As an inclusive game, we do not tolerate discrimination in any form. This is an important matter, and it is certainly one which we will take up with Souths.”

The Rabbitohs also issued a statement, reprimanding Luke for his “inappropriate” language and adding “Issac understands his responsibilities as a public person and has made a commitment not to react in this manner again to offensive comments on social media.”
After deleting his initial post, Luke issued what could vaguely be construed as an apology, saying that his emotions got the better of him:

Thanks to everyone. #respect
