Pedestrian’s Caulfield Cup Form Guide

Expect the spring racing carnival to gather further speed this afternoon with one of the most competitive Caulfield Cup fields in recent times. With two Melbourne Cup winners, a host of sneaky internationals, and Gai Waterhouse trained favourite Glencadam Gold unbeaten in Australia, picking a winner has never been tougher. Here’s our tips:

Glencadam Gold $5.00
The race favourites chances took a significant hit with a poor barrier draw. Glencadam Gold is used to taking the lead from the get-go so starting out wide at 21 means he’ll have to run out hard and could blow up towards the end. Glencadam Gold is unbeaten on our shores but this is the strongest race he has contested in Australia

Americain $21.00and Dunaden $10.00
As Melbourne Cup winners, they’ve both performed on the big stage. Their class cannot be discounted but neither got excellent barrier draws and are carrying a bit of weight. Possibly better suited to Flemington.

December Draw $7.00
Last year’s favourite is in great form placing in its last two runs. From the stables of leading Australian trainer Mark Kavanagh, December Draw grabbed a good barrier and will be all the better for last years race.

My Quest For Peace $8.50
One of a host of fancied internationals, My Quest For Peace is our top tip. With a great barrier draw, My Quest For Peace should settle in the lead pack and will come home strong. Big chance.

Sneak A Peek $15.00 and Lights Of Heaven $9.50
Peter Moody is heading into the race with three horses with Sneak A Peak and Lights Of Heaven benefiting most from the barrier draw. Sneak A Peek has been running well but without luck. Lights of Heaven hasn’t run for a month but but Moody has declared her the best of his trio.

Our top picks are:

My top 4 selections in the 2012 Caulfield Cup are……

1 – My Quest For Peace

2- Sneak A Peak

3 – December Draw

4- Lights Of Heaven
