Paris & L.A. Have Basically Got The 2024 & 2028 Olympics Locked Down

Well, this is interesting.

Breaking with tradition, the International Olympic Committee have decided to unveil their favoured hosts of the 2024 and 2028 Summer Olympics at the same time, ensuring we probably know what’s going down with the Games for the next decade.

If the IOCs plan holds, then Paris will be the host of the 2024 Games, and Los Angeles will take the throne for the third time in 2028.
Actual delegate voting takes place on September 13 in Lima, Peru – but the unusual decision to name hosts came as part of a unanimous IOC verdict, so don’t be surprised if this is exactly how it looks come September.
The decision reportedly came to revitalise the city selection process. Too many cities spend huge amounts of money applying, then never do again when they lose due to the expenditure. We saw it this time around with the withdrawals of Boston, Rome, Budapest, Hungary, and Hamburg.

After the immense dramas around the Rio Olympics, which ended up fine but were mired in controversy throughout the entire process, the IOC hopes that two well-established global cities like Paris and Los Angeles, which already have existing facilities, will get the whole enterprise back on track.
