Overachieving Aussie Teen Named Rubik’s Cube World Champ A Second Time

Things you can do in six seconds = not a whole lot.

Unless, of course, you’re this guy:
His name is Feliks Zemdegs, and the Melbourne teen just took out the rubik’s cube world title for the second time at the 2015 Rubik’s Cube World Championships Final in Sao Paolo, Brazil, solving the hard-AF brainteaser in less than six seconds.
Watch his glorious victory:
It looks like the video’s in fast motion EXCEPT IT’S NOT. HOW DO HIS FINGERS DO THAT, EVEN.
As impressive a time of 5.695 seconds is, Zemdegs, 19, narrowly missed the world record, which rests with American kid Collin Burns’ time of 5.25 seconds.

Our boy Zemdegs isn’t a sore loser though, ‘coz Straya. He said of the win:

“Firstly the competition was really really awesome, well-run, the venue was really nice, all the people were really nice. The win was also really nice as well. Because I won last time, I was sort of less nervous this time because I had already won one so that sort of helped a bit, but yeah it was obviously really cool.”

Way to go, kid – a subtle ‘I’ve already won this thing twice so I don’t give a shit about your world record’ dig is a solid way to play it.
The event itself, held every two years since 1982, hosts 17 different rubik’s cube competitions in total.

The main event is the solving of the standard 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube, but some competitive speedcubers – the ones that really live life on the edge – go one step further and compete with their feet.

THE END.
