Nick Kyrgios Finally Broke His Andy Murray Curse, Only Got Mad At One Fan

It’s early days yet, but Nick Kyrgios is already cracking on for a legit 2016.

Tonight’s win over world #2 Andy Murray in the Hopman Cup is impressive enough: Kyrgios had been beaten in their previous four match-ups, but the Australian young-gun dug deep / left it all on the court / gave it 110% to best the Scotsman, 6-4 7-6 (7-5).

While Murray suffered the match with a niggling leg injury, the win is still a pretty big stamp of approval for Kyrgios. His performance against the crowd was just as notable as his play against Murray: after copping some cheek from a spectator for a seemingly fumbled shot, his response was decidedly restrained.

“Sit in your comfy chair and watch” is a far sight more respectful than telling Stan Wawrinka that Nick’s bud Thanasi Kokkinakis “banged your girlfriend mate, sorry to tell you.”  More winning, less sledging? Australian tennis in 2016 is weird already, but we’re certainly not mad at it.
