Melb Cup Winner Michelle Payne Stood Down From Racing Over Banned Substance

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne has been stood down from racing after testing positive to a banned substance.
Payne became the first-ever female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup in 2015, riding the horse Prince of Penzance.
According to Racing Victoria, Payne allegedly tested positive for Phentermine in a urine sample taken at the Swan Hill Cup earlier this month. Phentermine is used as an appetite suppressant.
The jockey will be barred from racing and trackwork until Racing Victoria has conducted an inquiry into the result.
According to the ‘Sydney Morning Herald, Payne has been asked to attend an inquiry hearing at Victoria Racing headquarters tomorrow and could face a likely one or two month ban if found guilty.
