The AFL has today revealed the schedule for its Round 23 fixture – a floating round designed to be moulded to maximise the preparation time for teams readying themselves for Finals action.
The final round of the 2015 AFL Season will showcase a bumper Saturday fixture, with 6 games set to take place across 5 different states, covering the entire AFL footballing map.
The round will kick off on Friday with a blockbuster that potentially carries monumental September implications. The Etihad Stadium clash will see Richmond (pushing for an elusive top four spot) tackle North Melbourne (battling to maintain their place in the eight). The game scores the coveted Friday spot as the only game of the round to feature two likely finalists squaring off against one another.
Saturday’s bumper crop of games begins in Geelong, with the Cats hosting the Crows, which will be followed by games at the Gabba, the MCG, the Adelaide Oval, the SCG, and the Domain Stadium in Perth.
This leaves the remaining two games of the round – both featuring teams unlikely to move on to September action – to take place on Sunday, with Melbourne hosting GWS at Etihad Stadium, and Collingwood clashing with traditional rivals Essendon at the MCG.
