Margaret Court Wants You To Know Tennis Is Full Of Lesbians Who Love To Party

Just when it seemed like we could maybe quietly resign ourselves to having another sporting hero with terrible opinions and never talk about Margaret Court again, she’s gone and upped the stakes.
If you’ve been living a blissfully detached existence under a lovely rock somewhere, allow me to catch you up: Court courted (sorry) controversy with a letter in ‘The West Australian‘ bemoaning Qantas CEO Alan Joyce‘s decision to advocate for marriage equality (he’s gay, btw) and announcing that she would never fly with them again.
After a somewhat confrontational interview on ‘The Project‘, Court found support among Australia‘s right-wing columnists, who fervently believe that being mildly blunt with someone is a thousand times worse than homophobia.
While there was a chance for her to fall through the cracks in the news cycle, she’s done what any person with terrible opinions about gay people would do: doubled down.
Speaking to Vision Christian Radio, Court outlined a bunch of very sensible reason for why she holds her beliefs, such as how the countries that have adopted marriage equality are having “so many problems” (spoiler alert: they aren’t).
Court also stated that she believes children being transgender is the product of the work of the Devil, similar to Hitler and… communism? Yeah, I don’t quite follow either:
“That’s all the Devil […] but that’s what Hitler did and that’s what communism did: got the mind of the children. There’s a whole plot in our nation, and in the nations of the world to get the minds of the children.”
She reiterated that she doesn’t hate homosexuals, she just wants to fix them (please note that statistic is not even slightly true):
“We’re there to help them overcome. We’re not against the people. They’re human beings and 92 percent – they say in America – have either been abused in some form sexually or emotionally at an early age for them to even be this way.”
The real kicker, though, is her assertion that tennis is just bloody overflowing with partying lesbians:

“I mean, tennis is full of lesbians, because even when I was playing there was only a couple there. But those couple that led took young ones into parties and things.”

Incredible areas, Margaret.
