It’d be dumb to say tonight’s Australian Open final cemented Serena Williams‘ place as one of the greatest of all time, ’cause face it: she was already there.
Still, tonight’s mammoth 6-4, 6-4 victory over older sister Venus Williams makes it a frankly ridiculous 23 Grand Slam singles titles for the 35-year-old American.

The second set? Well, Venus ain’t no scrub either, keeping it (reasonably) tight until the very goddamn end. As it wound up at one hour and 22 minutes, it took considerable guts to overcome Venus’ seriously valiant efforts.

Still, there it was – a seventh Aus Open title for the absolute legend. Congratu-bloody-lations, Serena.
