LeBron James Confirmed ‘Space Jam 2’ Will Officially Begin Filming This Year

Hell yeah, who’s ready for the most important step in the transition from LeBron James: Basketball Icon to LeBron James: Movie Star? Because the man himself confirmed the long-awaited Space Jam 2 will finally begin rolling cameras very, very soon.

In an interview with a child held over the NBA All-Star Weekend, James confirmed the sequel to the 1996 Looney Tunes/NBA crossover movie will enter production this coming American summer, during the off-season.

We start filming it this summer, so that’ll be crazy.” It will be crazy, LeBron. It will be crazy.

The sequel to the 1996 classic puts LeBron in Michael Jordan‘s shoes, presumably as the leader of an all-new Tune Squad comprised of Bugs and Lola Bunny and their various Toonish compatriots.

Fellow NBA star Isaiah Thomas has taken today’s revelation and run with it by putting his hand up for the diminutive real-life role originally filled by the great Muggsy Bogues.

Always be hustling, folks.

Space Jam 2 is being produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, while Terence Nance, the creator of HBO sketch series Random Acts of Flyness, is set to direct.

As for everything else about the film, we have no idea. No idea about plot, cast, nothing. Just that it’s happening, it’s shooting this summer, and that LeBron By-God James is in it.

Everything else? Who bloody knows.

In the meantime, please to enjoy the still absolutely white-hot original theme song.
