Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunder Gives $1M to Tornado victims

Basketball All-Star forward and Oklahoma native Kevin Durant has donated US$1 million to the Red Cross Tornado and Disaster Relief Fund. The Oklahoma City Thunder player put forward the amount to aid victims of the horrifying events that arose on Monday— an irrefutably très généreux act.

This isn’t his first display of wide-reaching philanthropy in the wake of natural disaster. 2010 saw him, together with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade et al pledge $100,000 to the Athlete Relief Fund for those impacted by the earthquakes in Haiti.

In addition to Durant’s $1 million donation, the NBA and its players’ association will donate a separate $1 million to support the relief efforts. At the time of writing, the death toll of the Oklahoma tornado is reportedly 24.
