Watch Kelly Slater Make A Miracle Mid-Wave Recovery Like It’s No Big Deal

After 11 world titles you’d probably forgive Kelly Slater for putting the cue in the rack and just like… not doing ridiculous shit for a living anymore. But at 46-years-old, surfing’s most successful and enduring star is still pulling new tricks out of the bag like he does it every day. Which he does.

Observe the following: Slater, competing in the Pipeline Masters event in Oahu, pretty cleanly fell off his board mid-barrel and looked to be about done with the wave.

Unlike every mortal person walking the planet though, Slater, rather than roll through the wave and try for another one, somehow found a way to pull himself back onto his board mid-wipeout and emerged on the other side like nothing ever happened. Hell, he even stood back up on the wave and finished it out.

Look at the damned footage. Look at it.

He’s not normal. He is an abnormal man. This is not usual behaviour.

Slater even took the time to comment on his remarkable feat on Instagram, scarcely able to believe it himself.

Well, that was interesting. I thought I just fell straight onto my belly and bodyboarded out. Didn’t realise I had to grab for it!

Again, and we cannot stress this enough: Not a normal man. Not normal behaviour.
