Jeremy Howe’s Mind-Boggling Specky Copped Some Instantly Iconic Photos

Singling out any one of Jeremy Howe‘s ocean of aerial acrobatics does a pretty big disservice to his leaping ability as a whole, but if ever there was gonna be one that was “the” one, it’s this absolute screamer.

The Collingwood defender is known throughout AFL circles for his ability to haul in eye-watering marks from the stratosphere, but this one yanked down during yesterday’s traditional Queen’s Birthday clash against Melbourne is already being called a virtual lock for Mark of the Year.
The live footage of it is suitably nuts, with Howe elevating himself on the shoulders of Demons player/player now forever known as a stepladder Tom McDonald late in the game’s second quarter.

But it’s the still photos captured that take it from great to something else entirely.
This one from Adam Trafford at AFL Media manages to snap Howe at the crest of the jump.
But this shot from the Herald Sun‘s Mark Stewart manages to capture the utterly ridiculous elevation boost Howe gets off McDonald after he reaches the peak of his initial jump.

The photo is so good and the screamer so big that the paper was forced to run it across *both* its front and back pages. At the same time.

It’s not like Tom McDonald is a small hurdle to climb, either. The Demon defender stands at a lazy 194cm tall.

Unsurprisingly, it’s been nominated for Mark of the Week. This would be about his 29th overall in his career.
Not a bad effort, that.
