Of all the lifelong dreams Jarryd Hayne‘s had over the past few months, this one’s just about takes the cake.
Now, we need to stress that it is an “exclusive” yarn from the New Idea, and as such needs to be taken with all the grains of salt in the world.
That said, the celeb mag is now reporting that Hayne’s latest career shift looks set to be into pro-fatherhood, with the 28-year-old apparently expecting his first child with “close friend” Amellia Bonnici.
The duo, who are reportedly not dating, only met recently after Hayne made a flying trip home while he was still based in the US. Hayne and 25-year-old Bonnici were reportedly “shocked” at the news.
Bonnici is due at the end of the year, and Hayne is said to have asserted that he’ll be there for Amellia and will support her and the baby no matter what; his religious beliefs, which are well documented, seem to have gotten him through initial concerns that he had.
Again, it’s a New Idea “exclusive,” and as such is (for the moment) unsubstantiated at best; Hayne himself has yet to comment on the yarn.
But if true, thus rounds off quite easily the wildest 12 month ride through the media any Australian sportsman has ever had.
Lifelong dreams, you guys. Go chase ’em.
