Jarryd Hayne On 49ers Active List, Will Make Official NFL Debut Today

Our boy is suiting up.

Jarryd Hayne has officially crossed the last line of resistance standing between him and a remarkable debut in the the notoriously tough NFL, with the San Francisco 49ers releasing their active/inactive list for their season opening clash against the Minnesota Vikings.
A short time ago the Niners confirmed their inactive list – a group of seven players who will not take part in today’s game – and that list was free of Hayne’s name.

The list did, however, include fellow running back Mike Davis. This means that San Francisco’s provisional depth chart will ring true, and Hayne will line up in today’s game as a third string running back, and a backup punt and kick returner alongside Reggie Bush.

Barring catastrophic injury, it’s highly unlikely that Hayne will see any snaps as an RB in today’s game. However the chances of him fielding a punt or kick return today are reasonably high.
Whether he actually sees any proper game time today will only be revealed as the game wears on.
But the bottom line here is that Hayne will run out onto Levi’s Stadium as an official member of the active 49ers roster, and that after today his number of NFL games played will total “1.”
More on Hayne’s efforts today as the game progresses. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:20pm AEST.
